Since all of us are cartographers to one degree or another, I think a new show on the History Channel, How the States Got Their Shapes will be interesting to all. I stumbled upon the first episode two weeks ago and was fascinated; last week I watched episode 2 start to finish and was not disappointed. It's on every Tuesday for the next two months at 10 p.m. EDT. Definitely worth a look for mapmakers, geography and history buffs.

Thanks to Jim's suggestion I've been Tivoing these and watching. They are very entertaining, and filled with good party trivia. Like, the original proposed borders of Illinois included no access to Lake Michigan, i.e., no Chicago.
