Does anyone have a suggestion for a good steel tape to be used for calibration courses? This arises because a measurer I've been working with wants to buy a tape, he asked me for advice and pointed me to one he had found online. But I got the feeling it might be one of those really lightweight ones that would be flying all around in a moderate wind. Looking online I get the feeling that fewer and fewer companies are producing tapes (?).

Bob, two years ago I bought a fine tape: Starrett 30 m tape. It comes with a Letter of Certification which says that the overall length, at a temperature of 68 F with a tension of 10 pounds will have an error of less than 2.5 mm in 30 m. I assume you can search for this. I don't have a record of where I purchased it but it was online.
