The article uses the Boilermaker (NY) and Gate River Run 15K (FL) as examples of courses not recognized by World Athletics. Yet they were measured by World Athletics level A measurers, so presumably would fulfill the new requirement. Is the lack of World Athletics recognition just a matter of the RD needing to make an application?
There is a lot of misinformation in that article. It has always been required that a World Athletics A or B measure the course for AIMS/WA certification, and that world records can be set only on AIMS/WA certified courses. What is relatively new is the points and ranking system that WA will use for Olympics and World Champs qualification, and the fact that only races using AIMS/WA certified courses will count towards that.
I believe it is true that the measurers just need to send an application in to get those courses AIMS/WA certified.
