On behalf on the RRTC I would like to thank Jane Parks(Validator),Ray Nelson(Measurer),Justin Kuo(Measurer),Steve Valtones and Josh Nemzer for their work on the WOT. The course looks good, but we will wait for final approval from Neville Wood as to the validation.
Again, a job well done!

Thanks,

I have looked over the validation report of Jane Parks on the Women's Olympic Trials Marathon, and concur with her finding that the course is long by 0.15 % on the advertized distance and 0.05 % as measured, so it can now be considered prevalidated.

The course consists of one large closed loop, followed by three identical small closed loops, and finally a short straight section from the start line directly to the finish line. The course map would be more quickly grasped if this description had been included.

Neville, while your description is technically correct, it could be described better and more clearly. I know the course, and I would say it's one small (2.2 mile) partial loop, then FOUR larger (6 mile exactly) loops.
Jim:
My description of the course indicates exactly how the runners will run it, whereas yours is merely a fairly accurate (though not precise) summary of the distance involved. For the validation measurement we precisely regarded it as a large slightly extended closed loop plus three small identical closed loops, and this also describes how it will be run .

Pete:
There may have been a good summary description of the course on the certificate page, but like most people I was not privy to it. I therefore believe that it would have been helpful to have included the description on what otherwise was an excellent map. I feel this should be done on any map where the route is not immediately obvious.
