We (the Race of Awesome) are hosting an event at the Black Mountain Campus in Black Mountain, North Carolina for the 3rd year in a row. This is a 5k, 12/24 Hour Relay trail run through a park that will be happening on June 2 and 3. All of the USATF Certifiers in the area (that we know of) are swamped with work and can't certify this course in time. We haven't even been told yet if this course is able to be certified or not. Nevertheless, we were going to try to see if we can't just do the certification ourselves. Do you have any suggestions or incites as to how to proceed from here? Do you happen to know of any certifiers in the area that aren't on your list of certifiers? Thanks for your time!

Not seeing the trail, I would guess there are many factors that would determine if it could be certified. One is; is the trail well defined? If it is then, I would suggest that the cal course be laid out on a similar surface the event is run on.

As for finding someone to do the work, go to www.rrtc.net and do a search for measurers in NC. You could also do the work by following the manual. I would suggest you contact your Regional Certifier first, before attempting to measure the course.
