I am doing a survey to see what distance units people use in measurement reports of JONES COUNTER measurements.
My personal preferences are:
For an overall course length given in km
I use km (with 4 decimal places), and on these I invariably locate km split points, giving the distance from the split point to the reference street furniture in metres (either 0 or 1 decimal place).
For an overall course length given in miles
I use miles (with 4 decimal places). I usually locate mile split points, giving the distance from the split point to the reference street furniture in metres (either 0 or 1 decimal place). Occasionally I have to also provide km split points on a mile course. This is I find is best shown with a second column of accumulated distances in km.
I would be interest to know what readers of this board prefer.
My limited choice of options in this poll may not cover your preference. Please make a reply if you have another option which you sometimes use.
