Well, not entirely.
But, due to the regulations that pertain to "traffic calming" local, subdivision streets with speed limits of 25 mph or less can have a tangent section no longer than 600'.
Curves, speed bumps, lane narrowing, and other techniques are being used to ensure the roadway geometry encourages lower speeds.
I'm not sure if this is only a VDOT regulation, but it is likely to exist on a national level. Most roadway standards refer to AASHTO.
So, sorry folks. If you're looking for a nice straight section of roadway with low traffic volumes, and slow speed limits you will have to use existing streets. I can't get a new one approved in the state.
