Are the six digit counters sold more often than the five digit counters?

Personally I like the six digit counter - no round over for a 5 or 10 km. The five digit counter also has merit because it has fewer numbers to deal with - less chance of reading error.

Approximately 75 percent of the counters sold are 6 digit. I've always preferred the 5, as it's fewer numbers to remember when writing down the data.

Just read at the Veeder-Root website that the 6 digit counters are priced at $166.00 each! How are you making the finished counters and selling them for $160.00?

I started with a six-digit, and was forced into a 5-digit. Glad I was, as I prefer it for all measurements. Will only buy 5-digits now.

I am not sure which of the above was the first to offer a six-digit counter.

I mos def prefer the 6-digit. Now, if it could be made with a couple of tiny battery-operated LED lights on the display, and a magnifying lens over the display, I would be one happy guy.

In any case, I prefer the greater accuracy provided by the counters that give me ~ 18,000 counts to a mile as opposed to the ones that give me ~ 15,000 counts.

The good work that the Riegels do to produce these instruments at such reasonable cost is greatly appreciated.

Hey Lyman, I found I could put one of the small handlebar lights on my fork, just above my counter and it gives off good light. Helps with safety at the same time. Gotta turn it downward facing a bit, but manages to stay during a measurement.
