I have been measuring road races in BC since 1996. I really enjoy measuring road races as it gets me out on my bike, connects me with the running community and allows me to give something back to the sport I love so much, however, I have reached a point where I do not have the desire or the time to measure all the races that I am asked to measurer. Unfortunately there are very few active measurers in BC and unless we can identify and train new measurers race organizers will be unable to find a measurer willing to measurer their race for certification.
Several years ago I put on a road race measurement seminar in Victoria which was successful in training 10 new measurers on Vancouver Island, but few of them are still active. Since then, BC Athletics has twice tried to organize a measurement seminar, but both times there was insufficient interest to hold the seminar.
I am prepared to put on a seminar this spring if there are some people interested in taking on this fun and worthwhile challenge. Please pass my name on to anyone you know of that may be interested and ask them to send e-mail at: ptbadams@gmail.com. I will collect the names of those interested and hopefully will be able to arrange a time that is suitable for all.
