What criteria should be used when selecting a name for a newly certified course? Other than the 28-character space limitation in the course list, what criteria are important? Certainly there must be a standard not to allow vulgar course names. Other than those two basic criteria what is there? Does the course name have to serve a particular purpose beyond a simple identification? We all know the course list is full of courses named for races sponsors, individuals in memorial, coaches, athletes, religious organizations, holidays, and even named after the course measurer. What limitations, if any, should there be in the naming process?
