I was going to reply, but after I read the 5 pages of threads I saw that all had been said. I'd like to see road racing go metric in metric length races and English in mile races. If runners think they get confused trying to figure out their paces, how about us poor measurers who have to lay down two kinds of splits? Woe, woe!
On June 17 I measured a route for 5 K, 8 K and 10 K races at Nevis, Minnesota. The race director wanted kilometers marked. He didn't need miles marked, so we did all measurements in metric. We measured a 300 meter calibration course with a 50 meter steel tape. I measured and marked the kilometer points. I didn't think about miles.
