Latest course list is up, available for download for anyone who wants it.

Another course list is up. Usually I don't do mid-month updates, but I was changing some other stuff around anyway. So there are an additional 89 race courses available now.

Once again we have a new list. 208 new courses this time. Y'all have been busy.

July's courses are out, with 159 new courses for the month.

94 courses added in August. Keith has them, and they should be available as soon as he gets them sorted.

Hi.
I have been informed by the local Fairport course certifier that it can sometimes take a while before a certified course reaches the website.
The Rochester Marathon course (NY-06048-JG) was certified in July but has not reached the website yet.
The race is this Sunday (Sept 17th). Is there any chance that it will be on the USATF website before then?

The course was certified by Jim Gilmer, New York Certifier. jagilmer@nycap.rr.com

Absence from the latest list does not mean the course is not certified. It could well be in the pipeline.

Course NY-06048-JG was certified on 8/05/06 (perhaps the writer means it was measured in July) and I received the paperwork from Jim sometime in August (I don't log in the receipt of the hundreds of certificates I receive) and I mailed it to Stu (Registrar) on September 3rd ... at least that's when I prepared the meiling ... it might not have actually been mailed for a couple of days after that since I have to go to the post office to do it.

I received the course on the 9th, along with about 129 others. It will be online on or about Oct. 1st.

196 courses sent in this month. Keith Lively may be a while getting them all up on the site, but the database has been updated.

New list is up, with all the missing maps and a few replacements. This means ALL active certified courses are now online.

Bah, there's still one missing. So make that 99.99992% of active courses. One other active course (WI91006WG) is a track, with no map required.

Just in time for the convention, another 204 files added. The list is available now, maps as soon as Keith does his thing.

Once again the latest list is available. 139 new entries for December.

96 files uploaded for February. The latest list can be downloaded at your leisure.

42 files uploaded for March, mostly from the sunny West. This includes a bit of housekeeping, closing some gaps that Dave Poppers pointed out.

I'll try to upload again before London. Otherwise, the next upload will be at the end of May.

A short month, but a big month. 143 courses uploaded.

Did it early rather than late as I'll be in the UK until May 5.

Another big month. You guys were busy while I was kickin' it in the UK. 225 files this time.

I'll go through them to choose a new Map of the Month.

Which means I'll probably get slammed with a couple of fat envelopes tomorrow

Paul has promised a hellaciously fat envelope soon, and weekly packets thereafter. Once I get the two-month backlog from the East entered and scanned, I'll upload that. I know lots of folks want to see their races.

Well, if there's a world record for scanning, I just set it.

Is there a list of courses listed in the general order they have been ceritified, or are they only available as a result of a search on the course search page?

To make your life easier, (I sent you a private email before, but thought I would put this out for more to evaluate) could maps be submitted as PDF docs (for those that create maps with software, or who have scanners)? You mentioned you still had to scan the certs, but if there was a template for the certs in a Word format, Word docs can be saved as PDFs, also.

Just thinking about how many you handle, and if we in the field can technologize to make your job simpler, shouldn't we?

The course list isn't chronological, it's sorted by certification number. From this you can infer that, say TX07031JF was certified after TX07030JF, but there's no relationship between that and TX07031ETM. My Access file has a "date entered" field, but that only gives the date I received it, and only for the courses received since 2006, a tiny fraction of the 29,000 total courses in the file.

As far as electronic files go, a PDF doen't make things any simpler for me. I'd have to convert it to our PNG 2550x3300 2-bit standard and print a paper copy for the files. It's actually more trouble than scanning a map, which I do in batches of 20-100 per night.

Where do I find the complete list? Can I download a full Access file? I am looking for the recent courses, but don't want to search every possible distance for each state.

It's the USATF course search engine. Now do this:

1) Ignore "basic criteria."
2) Under "Advanced Criteria" select either "active" or "any" status, depending on whether you want every course ever certified or just the active ones. Select "any" as the course type.
3) Now go to the "Results" section. For "show" select "all fields." For "format" select "download (tab delineated)."
4) Now hit the "search" button, and you will download a course list in tab-delineated text format. It can be opened in Excel, Word, or a number of programs of your choice.

For what it's worth, the single-sitting record for road course database entries now stands at 186.

Early upload this month, 260 new courses for November. All are linked up and the database has been refreshed, so we should have 100% coverage now.

Only 26 courses for December, but a fat envelope sitting here waiting for me. About 87 courses that could have been December, for you wanna-be statisticians out there.

209 files uploaded this month, including the 87 leftovers from December. So call it 122 new files in January.

Note: Many course maps take up more than one page; each page is a file. So we don't have 122 new courses, maybe 90.

128 new files this month, all uploaded and available on the site.

Big month, 171 files sent off. Database is uploading as I type this (which is probably slowing it down some).

And 148 new ones for April.

Keith is back from the Nationals in Eugene, and the new maps are linked. Uploaded the new database. Around 200 new files this time.

Another 342 files uploaded for August.

Keith will be back Monday to deal with them, but I'll be on my way to Florida. The database will get uploaded once Keith adds links to all those files.
