I received this yesterday from Duane Russell. Good interview.

"Just wanted to pass this link on, as I was interviewed for the
RunColo.com Website. He took liberty with my title, and put a space in
the company name where it doesn't belong, but I thought he came up with
good questions. Read it if you want to, or ignore it if you don't have
time. I like the comment after the end of the interview."

I just got around to looking at this great interview. Duane, you do a great job of answering all those "troubling questions" that people have. And it's interesting to see that runners are more aware of certification and its value than I might have guessed. Finally, I think I am about ready to implement your policy about having folks sign off on a Map My Run course before I go to do the work. I worked all day recently to find a 5 mile combined with 5K (had to be loops). I got the 5 mile, had to come home and work on the 5K on the computer, then go back to finish on a different day. Life is too short for all of this!
Thanks for the comments. I thought the interviewer asked some very intelligent questions. He is definitely a champion of certification.

Bob, I agree with you that life is too short to be designing courses while measuring. I have avoided much on-course tweaking by having directors use MMR. I have one in New Mexico that has told me on three different designs "The 8k is ready to measure", only to have me find it way short, as he didn't follow SPR. We now have one I can measure, and it will come out as we want. I think MMR is a great tool, especially for the "proof" of the course.

MapMyRun - Don't start a measurement without it!
