How long is a 10k to a non-runner?

I heard it also. Why don't you write NBC and inform them that's it's 10000 meters? Then confuse them by explaining how to convert to miles.

I think Rupp did all he could to take 2nd. He was running outside of himself those last 50 meters. Incredible finish!

This Al Michaels comment reminds me of commentator Diana Nyad's observation in the Olympic Trials Marathon several years ago; "Well, I see the temperature is approaching 80 (F) now - this should be giving the runners some degree of comfort"...

You have to type in your username and password from your cable account to watch live though. I've watched preliminaries from several distance events. Something you certainly aren't going to see on the TV coverage.

I actually watched W100H and M1500 on BBC feed yesterday afternoon. Same events were on NBC that evening (although the 1500 was near midnight). Killed me that they interviewed the #2 & 3 finishers in the hurdles, but not the winner. Note to NBC: They do speak English (kind of) in Australia.

The Aussie winner may not have been available as she may have been talking to the Australian media.

Could be, although they had her on BBC. I know it gets crazy in the mixed zone.
