I'm new to this board. Maybe this has been covered. Our USATF-certified 4-mile course in Illinois was called long by quite a few runners wearing Garmin GPS devices. Is there anything to this? They said our course was as much as a tenth of a mile long. Has this become an issue? Any feedback?

Bob,

This has been discussed to death on this BB. Do a search on "GPS" and see. The best response has been from Stuart Gordon, who has posted a report on research.

The are are a lot of reasons why the runners' portable GPS readings differ from more accurate measurements, but they do. They are simply not as accurate, something the users do not wish to believe.
