Fields displayed on USATF searching for a course.

I'm with Jim - put the Record-eligible column on the far-right. You need all the other information to find the correct course. Once you have found it, record eligibility becomes relevant (to some).

I like: Dist; City, ST; Race Name; Map; Course#; Eligible.

That said, things must be good if this is what we worry about.

I agree with putting Record-Eligible on the far right. But also type, drop, separation, and status on the far right. If you do that you could just put all fields on there by default. Someone in the know, who might be interested in the above fields, would know to scroll to the right.

There is already an option on the measurement database web page to see more or see fewer fields. Selecting see more will display the Course Number, Map, Distance, Type, Drop, Sep., City, State, Course Name, Status, Year Certified, Measurer, Replaces.

Perhaps we should move the Record Eligible field from the see less web page to the see more page.

Here is what I think would work s for displaying the Fields.

Here is what the new look would be:
First you have the following:
Course Number---Map---Distance---Course Name---City---State---Measurer

From see more fields you have the following:
Course Number---Map---Distance---Type---Drop---Sep---Record Eligible---Status---Course Name---City---State---Year Certified—Measurer---Replaces

Do we need "year certified?" Wouldn't the certification number denote that?

Some may not know that, but I see your point.

Is the order that I stated good for you?

I think it would make more sense to people if the additional fields were all added to the right side when "See more fields" is clicked.

Mark and all how about this when searching for a course the following fields appear.

Course Number---Map---Distance---Course Name---City---State---Type---Drop---Sep---Record Eligible---Status---Year Certified---Replaces

At the top we would still have: "explanation of fields".

So everything to the right of "state" would disappear under "see less" is clicked? I think it's good, although maybe we should have "measurer" too.

I like what I see at 20:32 MDT Aug. 31. I see all the fields, and no "Less" or "More fields" button.

I would ask, pretty-please, if they would add a second sort - Course Name, after the City sort is completed. That makes it easier to find a course if a city has many of the same length.

Or, to add more elegance, after the City sort, and after the Course Name sort, sort by cert number. This way, if a course has more than one active cert, you can see all of them together, in chronological order. Just a suggestion.

There is one more minor improvement we might make -- The distance UNITS drop-down only offers Kilometers and Miles. Today I tried to find a calibration course by length. Couldnt do it. I tried entering 0.3048 Km, for example, but that did not work.

It would be good to be able to also select Meters or Feet, if that would otherwise fit in with the internal scheme of things ...

Had you selected "Calibration" as the course type? I just pulled-up all the cal courses in Colorado at .3048 km.

Duane's right - I often forget to do that, but it does the trick.

Thanks Duane, Jim! I had initially selected "calibration"... it must have auto-reset and escaped my notice. But -- No question, it sure does work great! Thanks for the assist.
