Several years ago, Pete Riegel stepped down after nearly a quarter century as editor of Measurement News. With his departure MN was set to fold. I felt this would be too bad, as it provided a valuable means of communications between members of the measurement community. Therefore, I took over the reins from Pete.
For the past year or so, however, I feel as if I've been involved in what the military refers to as a holding action. Contributions have dwindled to almost nothing, save for what Pete and I have written. Even changing the publications schedule from bi-monthly to quarterly didn't help; the last issue was cobbled together with rehashings of items, such as Kevin Lucas' proposal.
It may be that in the electronic age, MN has outlived its usefulness. Whatever the case, I don't plan to produce any further issues. If someone wants to volunteer to take up the torch, as I did from Pete, they are more than welcome to. I will be glad to send them all the necessary files (subscribers, logos, etc). If anyone is interested they can respond in this space or directly to me at jim@clubct.org
