If a posting is edited this is noted at the bottom of the individual post, along with who did the editing. Only three people can edit a post:

1) Me
2) Stu Riegel, when I am away. I notify him when he is the fill-in moderator.
3) The original poster

The editing policy is simple. A post by another person is edited if I consider it offensive. A post of mine is edited when I think it needs to be clarified or improved. No editing is done anonymously. If I see bad grammar or misspelling I leave it alone.

People are pretty well-behaved on this Bulletin Board, in keeping with our general practice of using our real names.

If your post does not look right you can edit it by using the icon that looks like a folder with a pencil eraser, at lower right of your post. If editing is done within eight minutes of the original post, no note of editing is made. After eight minutes the fact that editing has occurred appears at the bottom of the post.

If you don't like what someone has written you can respond to it, but you cannot change it.

I moderate another board, too, and I sometimes look for the edit button on forums where I'm a mere mortal, before I realize my godlike powers only extend so far.

Also, if you see something offensive, or more likely here, spam, hit the exclamation point icon at the lower right, and one of us with Powers will do something about it.
