We all knew this, but in today's "USATF News & Notes" came the following release:

Katz appointed to measure Olympic marathon course

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has appointed longtime USATF Official David Katz to measure the Olympic marathon course for London 2012.

According to IAAF Rule 117- International Road Course Measurer - "The measurer will check and certify the course if he finds it conforms to the Rules for Road Races (see rule 240.3 and respective notes). He shall cooperate with the Organizing Committee in the course arrangements and witness the conduct of the race to ensure that the course run by the athletes follows the same course that was measured and approved."

Katz is member of the USATF Rules Committee, the Road Racing Technical Council and the Executive Committee Masters LDR. He has been a USATF Official since 1976, obtaining the Masters Level in 1981.

Dave, if you need help, remember who was your faithful Tonto during the 2008 men's Trials measurement.
