Pete came up with the idea of one certificate for showing Certified splits as opposed to multiple certificates. Below is an example of what I suggest all certifiers to use in the future.
Gene, I have 2 marathons asking for certified 5k splits. I searched the forum before sending an email to Justin & Jane because I didn't find an example of how to document it except an example from Mike Wickiser wherein multiple certificates were uploaded. This link seems to be broken, can we get it updated & re-posted?
Will send you an example of a way to do this. However, why would one want these? They only serve a purpose if they meet the record eligible standards and they have timing set up to verify times.
I have been getting requests for certified splits off and on for several years. There are a few good reasons for certifying splits. It allows for record performance timing. Certified splits allow for course adjustments or changes without having to remeasure an entire course. When the split is documented Exactly, it is easier to locate the location for future races. Certified splits adds a level confidence in the course for runners. Certified splits highlight a few problems with the measurement and certification but they do add quality to a race. I don't propose certified splits but see no problem with their inclusion.
