This is an anecdote heard this weekend from a fellow runner. It seems this runner was notified at or near the start of this year's Boston, that his mother had passed away. The runner turned his chip in to the race officials with an explanation. The race offered a special service for this runner. The following week he was given a special chip with GPS tracking capability and told to run the course on his own, no detours and no long stops. He did and the results now show his time along with the other finishers. Another accolade for Boston!
