I received this from Gene Newman and forwarded it to Marja Bakker, Boston Marathon representative. (Pete)

Dear Marja,

Perhaps you can answer this question.

Bernie Conway (measurer@rogers.com) is IAAF/AIMS Measurement Administrator, Americas. He's also Canada's chief certifier

Gene Newman (newmangc@cox.net) is the new Chairman of USATF Road Running Technical Council.

Best, Pete

Bernie,

I have not know Boston to accept runners unless they have run on a certified course. I will pass this on the some on our committee and see if they have any other knowledge.

Let me know if you find out anything that is different than what I believe.

Gene

P.S, Pete, maybe you could post this on your Web site. Thanks, Gene

Gene,

In this email I am wearing my hat as Chief Certifier for Canada. To your knowledge, does Boston accept US runners who have run a marathon at a US race within the time limit but on a non-certified course? I have found out that Boston is accepting Canadian runners from Canadian marathons which are not listed as certified on our website.

I am looking to contact someone from the BAA to discuss this problem. I also wanted to know if you are having the same problem.

Bernie
