If there's a record hanging on whether or not the drop is within the 1 m/km standard, I don't think Google Earth is accurate enough.

I'm not sure I'd call for getting out there with a level and pole, but I'm not sure what, short of that, would give us the accuracy we need.

And if you do survey the start and finish elevations, what do you use? The nails or marks at the start and finish? The highest point on the road?
