I just had an email from a local race director. He got the OK for a race to be held at a local airport. I searched for the airport on the net and got an aerial photo of the runways, and a text that described each one, including its length.
I used the Accuroute program to lay out a preliminary course. The longest runway has a length 0f 5004 feet, so I used 5000 feet as a calibration distance. I then laid out some fancy arrows and text to give the race director one preliminary option. See below.
Accuroute is a nice tool. Check it out at: http://www.accuroute.co.uk
It’s nice to have a preliminary idea of where the course has to go. It can save lots of riding.
