Administration Help Wanted

If you are interested in how this Bulletin Board works, you can download a copy of the Owner’s Manual from the infopop site: http://www.infopop.com/docs/eve/

There are various settings I can use. They give various “permissions” to people. For example, members and guests alike can post messages and respond to them. I think this is proper, because this will encourage peekers to become members.

Only members can use an avatar (weird name for your picture) in their personal profile. Guests can’t. There are two types of avatar. One is a canned avatar used by infopop. The other is a custom avatar. You get a photo of yourself that you like, and you park it somewhere in whatever personal storage space you have, supplied by whoever is your internet provider. You give the URL of the picture to infopop, and when your message comes up, presto! Your picture is next to your message.

The membership list option is one I am having a hard time figuring out. It contains all the information shown in your personal profile. I see no reason to give guests access to our membership list, and at present they cannot see it. Should all members have access to this list? At present members cannot see the membership list. I seek guidance here. In the interest of open communication I prefer to let all the members see who all the other members are, but I realize some may not wish this to be available.

Please send me a personal email if you have an objection to allowing other members to see the membership list.

Other suggestions are welcome.

If the membership list contains the name and locaton of the member I think that's positive, because it helps people locate others near them. For example, taking over a job when they have other commitments or inviting them to be the second bike, etc.
We are fiew and far between and finding local contacts may be usefull.
It also helps if a member is visiting a remote location. The local member may have info on police contacts, local regs, existing cert course, etc.

If the membership list contains the members personal email address then I don't think it should be public.
