LDR Decentralizes Course Certification
New procedures designed to decentralize the approval of road running courses were put into effect at the beginning of May by TAC's Long Distance Running Committee; the announcement was made by men's LDR chairman Bob Campbell of West Roxbury, Mass.
In the past, all certification requests had been channeled to LDR's national course certification chairman Ted Corbitt of New York; while the decentralization is not as yet nationwide, four other persons have been designated to review applications and authorize approvals in 19 states and the District of Columbia:
- Allan Steinfeld, P.O. Box 881, FDR Station, New York, N.Y. 10022 (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York).
- David Katz, P.O. Box 822, Port Washington, N.Y. 11050 (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin).
- A. J. VanderWaal, 75 East Wayne Ave., Silver Springs, Md. 20901 (Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia, West Virginia, and Virginia).
- Bob Letson, 4369 Hamilton St., #4, San Diego, Calif. 92104 (Arizona and Southern California).
Course certification in all other parts of the country will continue to be reviewed by Cor- bitt (150 West 225th St., Apt. 8-H, Section 4, New York, N.Y. 10463).
