Reply to "New Records Requiremnets"

Hey guys, we tried beforehand to get the Go Long 25K to get their event USATF sanctioned. In the process, we learned that Fleet Feet Tulsa hadn't sanctioned their events since 2005 and had personal politics against USATF. I felt like I needed to run the race to prove a point to them that they need to get their events USATF sanctioned. I hope they will do so for future events! The same goes for the Route 66 Marathon, whom I found out is also not USATF sanctioned.

I'm glad I brought awareness on this. As I mentioned in my blog, one of my friends found out her upcoming marathon wasn't USATF sanctioned, which she was planning to race for an Olympic Marathon Trials qualifying time. She contacted them about getting this done.

I now serve on the LDR Division and Women's LDR committees, so I'm going to bring this up to our committees. I notice the USATF National calendar is a bit sparce on listing USATF sanctioned events. Our Oklahoma USATF calendar is more up-to-date. I'm not even sure if my upcoming marathon (Mercedes Marathon in Birmingham) is presently USATF sanctioned, although it appears they were in the past. If races are now preferring to go through the RRCA for insurance, they may not be aware they need to get USATF sanctioned (at the reduced fee) for ~Records or Olympic Trials qualifying.

Also, for clarification-- is the Competition Rule requiring USATF sanctioning Rule 262.3a?

Thank you Ken for your longtime efforts! I sure hope the Go Long 25K gets sanctioned for next year so I can run the beautiful course again! Smiler
