Here's a variation on this question:
Certifier receives an application from a new race director to extend the certification of an expired course. In the twelve years since it was first measured and certified, the course hasn't changed, but the name of the race HAS.
When the certifier issues the new certificate, he or she updates the race director's information on the front of the certificate. Does he or she also update the name of the course?
Obviously this could cause a little confusion for the registrar, but a note explaining the circumstances should clear that up. Plus the course is now identified on the USATF website with the name the race is now using.
Any other issues with this? I see the pluses of changing the course name far outweighing the minuses.
