GUIDELINES FOR CERTIFICATIONS WITH ELECTRONIC COUNTERS

1. Installation Check

The following check takes about a minute and makes sure that everything is correct with the minimum of button pressing. A certifier could quiz a measurer that he had done this by mail, but obviously it would be easy to talk the measurer through the procedure over the phone.

First note that KM/H is displayed in the upper right-hand corner. Start with the meter mounted. Roll the wheel to a ground reading of about 0.9 rev on the rim and zero the trip display by pushing the meter forward in its bracket for about three seconds. Roll the wheel forward for over a revolution until the trip distance increments by one. This should occur precisely at a rim reading of 0.00 rev. Push forward on the meter until ODO is displayed.
Remove the meter and press the red button twice to display 9999.

2. Course Rides

One ride should be made of the course that is as continuous as possible. Obviously no virtually no error with the counter is possible on this ride, but may be possible on a second ride while making frequent stops to lay down splits. Agreement between the two rides on the length of the course may be taken as good evidence that no errors have occurred.
