As promised, here are the results from the survey I have been hosting for the last few months. Over 250 responses, from all across the country. Percentages have been rounded to nearest whole number.

Two questions asked if runners knew what certification was. In one, 6 respondents said "No", in the other, 31 said "No".

The most surprising result was that 40% of respondents said they wouldn't run a race whose course was not certified.

<=20: 1%
21-30: 15%
31-40: 27%
41-50: 27%
51-60: 19%
>60: 11%

Male: 73%
Female: 27%

Region:
NE: 45%
SE: 5%
MW: 8%
S: 12%
W: 30%

Do you know what a USATF-Certified race course is?
Yes: 97%
No: 3%

If your answer was "No", does your time in an event matter to you?
Yes: 99%
No: 1%

Are you unlikely to run an event whose course is NOT certified?
Unlikely to run: 40%
Certification doesn't matter: 60%

Are most of the races you run 8k or longer?
8k or longer: 54%
Shorter: 46%

If you traveled (at least 50 miles) to run a race, did you check for certification?
Yes: 63%
No: 37%

Number of races run in the last year:
Less than 10: 22%
10 - 20: 34%
21 - 30: 15%
Over 30: 29%
